India Post Office Recruitment 2026: The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, has announced the Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II, July 2026. The notification was released on August 27, 2026, under Advertisement No. 17-12/2026-GDS.

Through this recruitment drive, India Post will fill more than 25,000 vacancies for the posts of Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) and Dak Sevak in different postal circles across the country.

The One-Time Registration (OTR) process will start on August 31, 2026. Candidates can submit their online applications and pay the fee from September 2, 2026, at 5 pm. The last date to complete the application is September 21, 2026, at 5 pm.

India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the GDS posts must have passed Class 10 with Mathematics and English as subjects. They should also know the local language of the postal circle for which they are applying. Apart from the educational qualification, applicants should have basic computer knowledge and the ability to ride a bicycle.

The candidate’s age should be between 18 and 40 years as on September 21, 2026. Candidates belonging to eligible reserved categories will get age relaxation as per government rules.

India Post GDS Application Fee

The application fee for eligible male candidates from the General (UR), OBC and EWS categories is Rs 100. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwBD categories, along with female and transwomen candidates, do not have to pay the application fee.

India Post GDS Salary

Selected candidates will receive a Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) based on their post.

• Branch Postmaster (BPM): Rs 12,000 to Rs 29,380
• Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM): Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470
• Dak Sevak: Rs 10,000 to Rs 24,470

The GDS posts require candidates to work for a minimum of four hours and up to five hours per day. Candidates selected as BPMs will have to arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office at their own expense. They must also live in the village where the branch post office is located.

For ABPM and Dak Sevak posts, candidates are required to live within the delivery area of the concerned post office.

1. Visit the official India Post website and select the “Register” option on the homepage.
2. Enter your mobile number, email address and other required personal details to create your registration number and password.
3. Log in with the registration details and open the GDS application form.
4. Enter your personal details, select the preferred postal circle and provide your Class 10 educational information.
5. Upload your recent photograph and signature according to the required specifications.
6. Pay the application fee online, if it is applicable to your category.
7. Carefully check all the information before submitting the application.
8. Submit the form after completing the final verification.
9. Download and keep a copy of the confirmation page for future use.
