NEET UG 2026 Results: Over 11 Lakh Candidates Qualified for Medical Admissions

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the detailed statistical data for NEET UG 2026 soon after announcing the results. This year, 22,79,743 candidates registered for the examination, while 19,99,895 candidates appeared. Out of them, 11,21,185 candidates qualified for admission to undergraduate medical, dental, AYUSH, and allied courses.

The number of registrations remained above 22 lakh for the second consecutive year, showing that NEET continues to be one of the largest entrance examinations in India.

Compared to NEET UG 2025, registrations increased slightly from 22,76,069 to 22,79,743. However, the number of candidates who appeared dropped sharply from 22,09,318 last year to 19,99,895 this year. As a result, the number of qualified candidates also fell from 12,36,531 in 2025 to 11,21,185 in 2026.

One of the biggest highlights of NEET UG 2026 was the increase in absenteeism. A total of 2,79,848 registered candidates did not appear for the exam. In comparison, only 66,751 candidates were absent in 2025.

This indicates a significant rise in the number of students who registered but did not take the examination.
